Martha and Rufus

Rufus and Martha Wainwright come from an established musical family, their father is Loudon Wainwright III and their mother is Kate from Kate and Anne McGarrigle. Rufus Wainwright has been busy as of late, He released Want two last November and in March he will be releasing Alright, Already - Live in Montreal which is an iTunes exclusive EP. Martha Wainwright has a Self-titled debut and has been playing at many clubs in NY experimenting and playing with some of New York’s finest musicians.

First off my personal favorite song that I am posting is Bloody motherfucking asshole. It just has so much emotion and she is so shameless. She holds nothing back. I am also adding on When the day is short, another track from her self titled CD.

Even with Rufus’s new CD (which is fantastic), I have decided to post some old covers he has done. First off, from the I am Sam soundtrack he covers the Beatles’ Across the Universe. Also from his CD Poses a cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.

One more, I have a nice live track of a duet they do called Don’t forget. Enjoy!

Just heard Bloody Motherfucking Asshole for the first time (love it!) and came upon this post looking for more from Martha. Sorry I wasn't active when you posted these. Anyway, I thought I'd post an observation about BMFA. Did you pick up on the reference to Bob Dylan's "Rolling Stone" in there? Check it out...

from Bob Dylan's "Rolling Stone":

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

from "BMFA":

No idea how it feels to be on your own
In your own home
with the fucking phone
And the mother of gloom
In your bedroom
Standing over your head

Pretty cool stuff.

Love the blog, btw! Thanks for all the *awesome* postings.
