Shelter of a Ghost

I'm going to start things off on a rocky note with some tunes by a personal favorite of mine. For anyone who has been living under a rock the last eight years, The White Stripes are a Detroit rocker duo, consisting of Mr. Jackie White and his little sister Meg (Actually ex-wife). Since their debut, they have released five solid LPs and numerous EPs, Singles and a DVD. They have become somewhat of a sensation, with many either loving them or loving to hate them.

The song "Shelter of your Arms" was released on the Denial Twist single, from their last album Get behind me Satan. It is originally by Jack and Megs support and friends, the Greenhornes, who are also half of jacks new band The Raconteurs (also with Detroit rocker Brendan Benson). The band has a lot of history in detroit and Jack has now become an established producer as well.

The song generally has a nice cool bluesy feel to it, which few can pull off so smoothly as these two. This song is also the first time I have heard jack use a Wah pedal. Jack, you wahed my socks off.

I am also posting another cover they have just recently released an EP for, "Walking with a Ghost". I'm sure many of you are familiar with the original song by awesome canadian indie rockers Tegan and Sara but if you are not, you should definatly check them out also.

Jack really took this song, sharpened it and rocked it up a notch. This version is definatly worth the listen, just to hear the way Jack says "ghost" the first time.
