Wow, you folks have sure been loving the Tool this last week or so! I have to admit I'm not as big a fan as Travis, but I have been able to appreciate a few things Mr. Keenan and friends have been involved in. Let's go on a journey, shall we? A musical journey!
If you like Tool, you're probably already familiar with Maynard James Keenan's other project, A Perfect Circle. This remix by Massive Attack tosses out most of the original, but it's still a satisfying creation by itself. The track was originally posted by Palms Out Sounds back in February.

That song also happens to be from A Perfect Circle's (far superior) first album. At the time, the band featured Paz Lenchantin, but after a short stint she joined the Pumpkins-less Billy Corgan to form Zwan.
[mp3] Zwan - Settle Down
That was clearly an awesome career move. Er, yeah, so Zwan is gone. And that rhymed. Also, since Zwan totally didn't work out, Billy Corgan decided to go solo and put out an album under his own name. Of course, anyone who listened to that album realizes it's not quite on par with Mr. Corgan's glory days either.
I still have a lot of respect for Mr. Corgan, but damn, this album was pretty much unlistenable. It seems like kind of a bad sign when the only highlight on the album is something as gimmicky as a Bee Gees cover featuring The Cure's Robert Smith (this coming from a huge Cure fan). But I digress... We're losing focus. Where do we go next? Lovecats, that's where:

[mp3] Tricky - The Love Cats
Okay, so it's not exactly the greatest cover of all time and Mr. Tricky (the other one) decided to add an extra space to the title of the song, but I assure you this is going somewhere. Double-somewhere, in fact. Not only did Tricky tour with Tool and perform the song "Opiate" live with the band, but he was also a frequent collaborator with Massive Attack, the folks behind that remix at the top of this post.

And now you see it: a perfect circle. Kevin Bacon would be proud. Or not care... Whatever.
